Restorative South Coast
Where geothermal wellness, dramatic landscapes and Icelandic nature come together
5 Days
North Iceland
A route through North Iceland, where volcanic landscapes, geothermal activity, and coastal environments come together in a less visited part of the country. This itinerary focuses on the Lake Mývatn region and the Diamond Circle, an area known for its geological diversity and strong contrasts. Compared to the South Coast, travel here is generally quieter, with more open space and fewer visitors. It is well suited for those looking to explore Iceland's natural features in more depth, with a balance of driving, short walks, and optional activities.
The Details
The Route
Reykjavík → Golden Circle → South Coast → Vík → South Iceland → Reykjavík
Travel through some of Iceland’s most scenic regions, from the geological wonders of the Golden Circle to the waterfalls, glaciers and black sand beaches of the South Coast. Along the way, wellness is woven naturally into the experience through geothermal bathing, time spent in nature and a thoughtfully paced itinerary that encourages guests to slow down and fully appreciate their surroundings.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival in Iceland & Reykjavík
Arrival in Iceland and transfer to Reykjavík.
The journey begins with an introduction to Iceland's capital, a city where modern Nordic culture exists in close harmony with nature. Explore the colourful streets, waterfront pathways and striking architecture before settling into the relaxed rhythm that will define the days ahead.
In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner featuring fresh local ingredients and flavours inspired by Iceland's surrounding land and sea.
Overnight: Reykjavík
Day 2 – Geothermal Landscapes & Wellness Traditions
Travel into the Icelandic countryside to explore the famous Golden Circle.
At Þingvellir National Park, walk through a landscape shaped by the meeting of two continents, surrounded by lava fields, clear water and wide-open views. Continue to the geothermal area of Geysir and the powerful Gullfoss waterfall, where the forces of nature are experienced at their most impressive.
For lunch, visit Friðheimar, where tomatoes are cultivated year-round using Iceland's renewable geothermal energy, offering a unique connection between nature, sustainability and food.
The day concludes at Laugarás Lagoon, where guests can unwind in naturally heated geothermal waters while overlooking the peaceful countryside. Bathing has long been an important part of Icelandic culture, and the experience offers a chance to relax, reflect and embrace the slower pace of the journey.
Overnight: South Iceland
Day 3 – Waterfalls, Coastal Landscapes & The Power of Nature
Continue along Iceland's spectacular South Coast, a region where waterfalls, glaciers and volcanic landscapes create some of the country's most iconic scenery.
Visit Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, where guests can experience the sights, sounds and energy of glacial water cascading from ancient cliffs. The journey continues through vast lava fields and glacier-carved landscapes before reaching Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, where basalt columns, crashing Atlantic waves and dramatic sea stacks create a setting unlike anywhere else in the world.
Throughout the day, there is time to walk, breathe and connect with the natural environment. Rather than rushing between sights, the program encourages guests to experience the calming effect of Iceland's open spaces and powerful landscapes.
Overnight: Vík area
Day 4 – Relaxation & The Blue Lagoon
Travel west through South Iceland's rural landscapes on the return journey to Reykjavík.
The afternoon is dedicated to one of Iceland's most renowned wellness experiences: the Blue Lagoon. Surrounded by lava fields, guests can soak in the mineral-rich geothermal waters, enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and experience a wellness tradition deeply connected to Iceland's volcanic origins.
The combination of warm water, fresh air and dramatic natural surroundings creates a uniquely Icelandic form of relaxation and provides the perfect conclusion to the journey.
In the evening, gather for a farewell dinner and reflect on the experiences shared throughout the program.
Overnight: Reykjavík
Day 5 – Departure
Depending on flight schedules, enjoy a final morning in Reykjavík before transferring to Keflavík International Airport.
Depart with lasting memories of Iceland's landscapes, geothermal traditions and the sense of wellbeing that comes from spending meaningful time in nature.
Day 6 – Skaftafell & Return Through South Iceland
Spend the morning exploring the remarkable landscapes of Skaftafell, a scenic area within Vatnajökull National Park known for its glacier views, mountain peaks and hiking trails.
As the journey continues westward, travel through vast lava fields, glacier outwash plains and fertile agricultural regions that reveal the powerful natural forces that have shaped Iceland throughout the centuries. Along the way, there are opportunities to stop at scenic viewpoints and appreciate the ever-changing landscapes of the South Coast.
Return to the Hella or Hvolsvöllur area, surrounded by some of Iceland’s most famous volcanoes and river valleys.
Overnight: South Iceland
Day 7 – Buggy Adventure in Þórsmörk
Today is dedicated to exploring the dramatic wilderness of Þórsmörk, one of Iceland’s premier outdoor destinations.
Nestled between the glaciers Eyjafjallajökull, Mýrdalsjökull and Tindfjallajökull, this spectacular valley is known for its rugged mountain ridges, glacial rivers and thriving vegetation. Reaching the area is an adventure in itself, requiring river crossings and travel through remote terrain.
A guided buggy tour offers an exciting way to explore the region, following trails through volcanic landscapes shaped by the eruption of Eyjafjallajökull in 2010. Along the way, enjoy sweeping views of glaciers, valleys and black sand plains that highlight the raw power and beauty of Iceland’s interior.
Overnight: South Iceland
Day 8 – Borgarfjörður & Snowmobiling on Langjökull
Travel to West Iceland and the historic region of Borgarfjörður, known for its geothermal activity, waterfalls and saga heritage.
From Húsafell, head into the highlands surrounding Langjökull, Iceland’s second-largest glacier. Here, embark on a snowmobiling adventure across the glacier’s expansive ice fields, enjoying breathtaking views over the surrounding mountains and wilderness.
Following the excursion, discover some of Borgarfjörður’s natural highlights, including Deildartunguhver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring, and the beautiful Hraunfossar waterfalls, where water emerges through an ancient lava field.
Overnight: Borgarfjörður
Day 9 – Snæfellsnes & Vatnshellir Cave
Explore the diverse landscapes of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, often referred to as “Iceland in Miniature” due to the variety of natural attractions found within a relatively compact region.
Travel past fishing villages, dramatic coastlines and lava fields beneath the glacier-capped peak of Snæfellsjökull, which famously inspired Jules Verne’s Journey to the Center of the Earth. Highlights may include Arnarstapi, Djúpalónssandur and the iconic mountain Kirkjufell.
One of the day’s adventures is a guided descent into Vatnshellir Cave, an ancient lava tube formed thousands of years ago during a volcanic eruption. Exploring the cave reveals a hidden world of lava formations and volcanic geology beneath the peninsula’s rugged surface.
Return to Reykjavík for a farewell dinner celebrating the experiences and adventures of the past 9 days.
Overnight: Reykjavík
Day 10 – Departure
Transfer to Keflavík International Airport for departure.
Depart Iceland having experienced its landscapes from every angle: on foot, by kayak, by buggy, by snowmobile and beneath the surface of an ancient lava field.
